Colaboration, participation, exchange of information. The golden rule for the communication on the network.

In the early days was just enough and cool to have our space on the web. It was pretty much as Graffiti on the real world, a need we all have to give our opinion, to be listen. No surprise as the virtual world was new, but based and inspired in an old society. Where the direction was always the same.

We can "hear" the voice of people trying to be listen, everyday, everywhere. And sometimes we "see" it on a car in the street with the owner's name on front of it. That is not surprise, is just the wish to be listen, desparate measure to make a point. A scream...

Car customization, exclusive clothes, gadgets, and etc. It's my expression. It's my way.

Participation! colaboration... and so we can talk about the open source wave. People was tired to buy a software and be obligated to live with the problems and "depend" on others. So, a new model was born, based on exchange of information, and sinergic efforts. Where the value of each individual was much more important than the product.

Welcome to the explosion of the internet social thing, a new world of possibilities, opportunities; and now we have infinite collaborative projects, developers, writers, professionals or not, creating and forging the web.

What do you think about wikipedia, blogs, and finally: the social networks?

Everyone is invited to participate, "create" content, discuss about any topic, exchange informations, knowledge without a owner or with just one direction. Now, it's not difficult to understand why youtube, social networks, blogs, and why all these environments have great popularity and huge user base. People wants to participate and not just watch.

We all know about facebook, orkut, flickr, and etc. But do you know about Ning and Yammer for example? Social Network as a Service, creating new possibilities for the enterprise, and even for personal sites. You not creating content or software, but creating a whole environment for collaboration.

So, for the itqmagazine.com site, we are thinking about the options to create an environment with these synergic values, where we all can "talk" about subjects of our interest. Where writers of the iTQ Magazine and readers will be exchanging the informations and creating content, based on newsgrape publishing platform.

Hope we can listen your opinion on the comments section...

Collaboration (social or otherwise) is certainly of importance to society. How did we ever progress as a world before the internet though?

The situation was obviously very different. I recently read an article by a Professor in the US who wrote about his experiences as an undergrad. Right now, we can slouch in front of our screens and get all the information we need for an essay - back then, it was a case of going to the library, and manually sifting through every appropriate book. Shudder...
