3 powerful tips for creating true Blog Headlines
1. Clear, informative and definitive
When writing a blog title, you want people to be intrigued. The best way to do so is by stating very clearly, what they are about to read when engaging in your post. Let them know what awaits them, try not to get lost in details. Don’t be vague and try evaluating your headline from an objective point of view.
Even though it may be obvious to you, question whether the title you came up with could be classified as informative. One of the hardest parts of creating the perfect title is balancing information with simplicity. If you are able to communicate the most important facts and still manage to stay brief, you are a big step closer to that perfect headline.
Also, be well aware that you are knowledgeable and therefore in a lecturing position. If your content lives up to your headline, your reader will walk away more educated and informed than before. That’s why you shouldn’t be afraid of being definite about your point of view and professional opinion. Of course you can be open for discussion, answering comments and engaging in conversation. But remember – there’s a reason why you picked that topic, and probably its because you know a great deal about it. Let your readers know that.
Here is a great headline example by business blogger Silver teede.
2. Keywords VS. Uniqueness
Obviously, there is going to be something quite special about your article. Your viewpoint, your insights, your tricks of the trade. This is the reason why readers will love and share your post, follow you and await future publications. The thing is, you will have to integrate general keywords to optimize your search engine optimization. By doing so, you will probably come across examples that are used quite often because they are frequently searched by the target audience.
Play around with Google AdWords, and try out different options to see how monthly keyword searches vary, until you find the perfect fit for your personal headline.
But be smart about the way you integrate your keywords. A true headline-pro has mastered the art of letting his/her own voice come through, while working with popular keywords seen all around the net.
A cool example would be:

When writing something unique and authentic, most writers will probably agree that at least 50% of their content is defined by personal style, character and experience . Of course this differs from niche to niche, a tech – blog will probably convey less personal qualities than something on philosophy or art, still: If you want people to find your article, you have to take a look at what they are actually looking for right now. There are too many lonely, individual bloggers out there, working hard on original content yet struggling with low user frequencies and response.
3. Finding the right balance
Using numbers can convey professionalism, keywords can boost your SEO, style can be charming – but everything within the right context and balance.
Be aware of WHO is going to read the headline and WHERE, know when to educate and when to call for action. Great headlines work because they are organic and work with their environment. They often complement the surrounding content, acting as a fresh wind and less as shout-outs, trying to sell or invade.
So, keep in mind what your article is expressing and think about how your headline will interact with the environment that you position it in.
