The third part to the samosa saga, written by 8-year-old Fawzan Siddiqui.

         The Pebble and the Samosas.

There was a planet called the Pebble Planet.  Like Planet Samosa, there were living pebbles of different ages.  There was once a pebble called Vikram.  He had a telescope in his room, which could look at other planets. One night when he was looking through his telescope, he spotted planet samosa.  He thought it was a nice looking planet and wanted to go to it.  He asked his dad, “Dad?”

“Yes,” replied Vikram’s Dad.

“Can I go to that planet over there?”

Then his dad burst out with laughter.  “That planet!” said his dad.  “It’s miles away and we don’t have enough money to by a rocket.”

“But I want to go!” protested Vikram.

“Sorry but you can’t,” said his Dad. “Fine then!” shouted Vikram.

And he marched away to brush his teeth.  After he came out of the bathroom he didn’t change into his pyjamas.  Instead, he sneaked down stairs and went out of the house.  Pebbles didn’t need shoes because they could fly.  So Vikram’s wings got out of his armpits very slowly, until they were fully out and he started flying.

His plan was to find the Pebble Planet’s rocket store, and steal a rocket. He was only six years old, but he was so determined to do this that he didn’t care if he got caught.  Soon, Vikram caught sight of the rocket store and flew to it. He used all his might and flew through the locked door.  He then started choosing which rocket to fly on and finally made his choice.  Vikram chose the last rocket, which had pictures of planets on it, and wings as sharp as blades, made of the finest steel, and huge square windows.  So he flew inside the rocket and was amazed at all of the buttons, levers, radars etc. He started pressing buttons until he had hit the red one, and the rocket started to shake.  Then it felt like it was moving up, and up, and up until it made a big hole in the roof and he knew that the rocket was definitely moving up. When the rocket had slowed down, Vikram started learning how to control the rocket and soon, he started to fly it. He was flying close to the Moon and suddenly he saw Planet Samosa.  He then immediately started flying towards Planet Samosa until the rocket was on the ground.

A crowd of samosas gathered from every direction to watch this awkward scene.  Vikram could see all of the the samosas from the window, so he pressed a button which made the door open and just dropped down on to the ground to look like an ordinary pebble.  Suddenly, the Boss Samosa pushed his way through the crowd.  “What is all this nonsense?!” shouted the Boss Samosa.

“A pebble just dropped out of this rocket,” said Zak.

“So?” said the Boss Samosa.  “It’s just a pebble.”  Vikram knew it was the time to introduce himself.  So he got up, opened his eyes and started speaking.

“I’m not just an ordinary pebble.”

When the Boss Samosa heard this, he was astonished.  “Run everybody!” he cried. “You heard the pebble talk and he said he wasn’t an ordinary pebble so it means he is going to hurt us all!”  Everyone ran away with the Boss Samosa.  Everyone except Freddy, Arun, Anthony, Zak and Sam.  “If you’re a living pebble like us, then do you come from another planet?” asked Arun.

“Yes,” replied Vikram.  “I come from the Pebble Planet.”

“Then how did you end up here?” asked Freddy.

“Well, what happened was that I have a telescope in my room which can look at other planets,” said Vikram, “and I spotted this planet and wanted to go to it. But, when I asked my dad if I could, he said he didn’t have enough money to buy a rocket and I got really angry so I went outside and stole this rocket…”

“You stole it!” exclaimed Anthony.

“I’m sorry but I was so desperate to come here,” said Vikram.

“By the way,” said Sam, “what’s your name?”

“Vikram,” said Vikram. “What’s yours?”

“Well, I’m Arun,” said Arun, “and these samosas are Freddy, Anthony, Zak and Sam.”

“Nice to meet you,” said Vikram.

“Where are your shoes?” asked Anthony.

“Pebbles don’t need shoes because they can fly,” replied Vikram. “Watch this”.  Once again, Vikram’s wings slowly stretched out of his armpits until he was up in the air. “Wow,” said Arun.

“Pebbles are also really clever,” said Vikram.

“The half term has nearly ended, so you can help us at school.” said Freddy.

“Ok.” said Vikram.

They all went home to bed.  Vikram went to Anthony’s house and slept on the sofa.  When it was morning, the five samosas got ready for school.  The first lesson was Maths.  The teacher was called Mr. Howarth.  When they started the lesson, Mr. Howarth said, “Right class. In Maths today we will be multiplying big numbers.”  Vikram was listening in the science homework box, ready to help anyone. “So,” said Mr. Howarth, “let’s ask someone a question to see if their brain is working. Let’s ask…Anthony. What is twenty times twelve?”

“Um,” Anthony hesitated.  Very quietly, Vikram flew out of the science homework box and told Anthony the answer. “Two-hundred-and-forty,” he whispered.  “Two-hundred-and-forty,” said Anthony.

“Good,” said Mr. Howarth. “Now, let’s ask someone else another question. Let’s go with…Tom. What is fifty times five?”

“Er…” Tom hesitated too. Vikram flew over to him and whispered the answer.  “Two-hundred-and-fifty.”

Tom didn’t know where the random answer came from but said it anyway.  “Two-hundred-and-fifty,” he said.

“Right,” said Mr. Howarth.  “All you need to do is times the tens on the left with the unit on the right, then add a zero,” he added. “But, if the unit on the left isn’t a zero, then your working-out will be different.”

After the long school day was over, the pebble and the five samosas went to tell the Boss Samosa about Vikram.  When they got to his office, they knocked on the door and went inside.  The Boss Samosa was just sitting on his chair.

“Boss Samosa, are you okay?” asked Sam.

“No. Not at all,” replied the Boss Samosa. “That pebble stole my things while I was out.”

“What!?” yelled Vikram. “I didn’t steal a thing!”

“Yes you did,” argued the Boss Samosa. Just then, Vikram spotted someone carrying a bag over his shoulder.  “Look,” said Vikram. “Maybe that guy stole it.”  With that, he flew out of the room and raced to the samosa with the bag.  Vikram flew right over to the samosa and started punching him. “You stole the Boss Samosa’s things, didn’t you!” shouted Vikram. He flew onto the samosa’s head and held onto the sides.  Vikram was now controlling the samosa and smashed him everywhere.  He smashed him onto trees, lamp posts, the rocket and finally, onto the brick wall of the Boss Samosa’s office.  The samosa fell to the ground and Vikram carried the boss samosas things back to him. “Well done!” said the boss samosa.  “You got all of my things back to me. Thank you so much.” Suddenly, Vikram realized that he had to go home.

“My parents are probably worrying about me now, so I need to go home,” said Vikram. “Ok then,” said Arun.  “It was nice knowing you.” So Vikram got back in the rocket and flew of into space. “See you soon!” shouted Anthony. Vikram was now a hero to everyone in the town.

The end.

SNEAK PEEK OF THE FINALE TO THE SAMOSA SAGA:

“Beware all samosas,

The time has come,

Darkness will fall,

Upon your lungs.”

Nice story - soon ordinary people (well at least very rich ordinary people) will be able to fly into space - hope they find Planet Samosa as they might get hungry!
