About Us

The beginning of Newsgrape took place during the summer of 2009, when Felix and Leo set up a small online magazine. Soon they noticed that the exchange of articles on the Web should be more fun. Despite a dozen co-authors it was a daily and never-ending struggle to gain the attention of visitors and readers. The effort to write a good article took almost as much time as the promotion and the earnings from Google's advertisements were virtually nonexistent. Above all, there was far too little interaction. Thus began in the winter of 2009/10 together with Gabor as the first programmer, the development of Newsgrape.

About fourteen months later and with the help from generous supporters the first phase of Newsgrape, a restricted Pre-Beta testing phase, was launched in February 2011. During the next few months it was all about rewriting the engine, heavily based on the feedback of the approximately 1.000 users of the Pre-Beta.

Finally, on the 10th of June, it was time to launch the all-new Open Beta. Leo: "Newsgrape has grown, both in content and concepts. The team has more than doubled and with it the tasks that we have set ourselves."

At this point we'd like to thank the courageous supporters from all around the world who made the launch of the Pre-Beta possible. As a little thank you note we'd like to present to you the most generous ones here.
