With Newsgrape magazines have to be imagined as flexible valves for articles, where you're connected with other writers and publish collaboratively, under a shared banner. Magazines are like extended profile pages and you can publish articles in several of them, which again can be subscribed to by readers.
If you are Editor or Editor in Chief of a magazine, your contribution will be released immediately. In case you are a Columnist, an Editor in Chief has to approve your article first. Magazines can also set individual rubrics, for more flexible publishing.
Being member of a magazine means being able to publish articles to the readers and subscribers of the magazine. There will be small magazines, with very few numbers of writers, looking for only very specifically talented writers and there will be large magazines, constantly on the lookout for potential contributors. All of this happens in a mutual beneficial way, since magazines earn revenue from their visitors, but advertising income from the articles still belong to the authors.
Writers / companies / agencies may write advertisements and advertorials, but these have to be marked as "Promotional Articles" during the publishing process (check box). These articles will be hidden in the articles overview, but remain in the respective magazines, on the according profiles and related search queries, and appear to all subscribers.
Until Newsgrape you had to switch the language of the interface to switch the languages of the content. Newsgrape supports bi - or even multilingual readers. In other words, on Newsgrape you must not choose only one language. With the interface running in one language, let's say English, Newsgrape can still display contributions in multiple other languages, like English, German and Russian: Each new article is assigned to a language and invisible to users who don't speak the language.
In the future, Newsgrape will rely on advertisement in articles and other pages, which can be booked in form of Pay-Per-Click and Pay-Per-View banners. No, there will be no Pop-Ups or any flashy moving images, just to mention that.
To increase the conversion rate, Newgrape is will present a new concept, aimed to increase the users interest and click rate. For example, reduced advertising costs for community relevant promotional advertising (auditions, competitions, etc.) or Ad-Awards to support viral videos.
Writers will be able to benefit from up to 75% of the advertising profit generated by their articles and profile pages really easy. All you'll need is a Paypal account. The Newsgrape advertising scheme will automatically detect if an author has reached a certain "value" and ask for the account details. This "value" is easily reached - the mechanism is in affect simply because it obviously does not make any sense to transfer every single penny.
Additionally, a new system under the codename "SYL" is going to be introduced which is going to offer new features to advertisers, and generally set new standards for advertising on the web.
